Company nameMaddox-Fairfield Vehicles
Founded year1947
CountryUnited States
Maddox-Fairfield Vehicles was founded in 1947 by two veterans of the second World War, who, in a barn south of Washington D.C., started making their own cars from existing vehicles for custom orders. By 1955, their business had aged to the point where they were able to create their first true vehicle, in their first factory. By 1970, business for MFV was booming, but they were unable to weather the oil crisis of '73 without taking major damage. It took them 20 years to recover, and in 1999 re-geared their production models towards the youth of the nation after the death of the final surviving founder, Richard Maddox.
